The American automobile company Ford has entered every segment in India right from hatchbacks to premium SUVs. Ford Figo in the hatchback segment, Ford Classicand Ford Fiesta in the sedan section, Ford Ecosport and Endeavour in the SUV segment are the Ford cars currently seen in the Indian car market. The latest car from Ford Motors in India was the renewed Fiesta which is seeing decent sales now. The company has further plans to introduce many more cars here to rapidly expand its market share in this country. Here is a brief on the upcoming cars from Ford Motors in India.

Ford Figo Aspire sedan will probably be the first one to be launched. It already made its debut at the 2014 Delhi Motor Show. This car will mark Ford’s entry into the highly competitive sub compact sedan segment. The Figo Aspire will get the 1.5litre TDCi diesel and 1.2litre TiVCT petrol engines. The car will sport features like Sync with AppLink and Emergency Assistance which is seen in the EcoSport.


Ford Figo, which was a good seller in the hatchback segment, is getting old now and the company is on the lines of bringing in a new version. The new Figo was also showcased at the 2014 Motor Show as the Ford Ka Concept hatch and is ready to hit Indian roads soon. The hatch will get significant exterior, interior as well as mechanical changes and is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 5-7.5 lakhs.

The next generation Ford Endeavour New is expected to make its debut in India by the third or fourth quarter of 2015.The company has developed it on a new ladder frame chassis in order to enhance its off-roading capabilities. Further, the inclusion of a new independent coil-spring layout at the rear instead of the leaf spring setup will add more to its drivability. Ford might also replace the existing 5speed manual and automatic gearboxes with a 6 speed transmission. What is more the car will be loaded with plenty of comfort and safety features.

Ford also has plans to bring in its internationally admired sports car – the Ford Mustang by November 2015. This is the first right hand driver version of this car made especially for India. It will be imported to the country as a completely built unit and so may fall in the higher price range of Rs 45-50 lakhs. The Mustang might come in three engine options – a 2.3litre EcoBoost, a 3.7 V6 and a 5.0litre V8 and all the engines will be offered with a 6speed manual and 6speed automatic gearboxes.

Bajaj expects market share in bikes to touch 23 per cent by fiscal-end

NEW DELHI: Riding on new launches in sports as well as mid-segment bikes, Bajaj AutoBSE 0.39 % is eyeing 5 per cent increase in its domestic market share to around 23 per cent by the end of current fiscal.

The company, which sells various popular motorcycle models including Pulsar, Discover and Platina, currently has a market share of 18 per cent in the domestic market.

Ford to open Figo Aspire bookings from next week

NEW DELHI: Auto maker Ford India will start accepting bookings for its upcoming compact sedan, Figo Aspire at its dealerships from next week at a nominal amount of Rs 30,000.

Figo Aspire, which is expected to hit the roads next month, is one of the three models the company plans to launch over the next nine months.

The car would be launched with both petrol and diesel engines. The company would also roll out petrol-powered automatic transmission variant of Figo Aspire.

Maruti Suzuki to roll out ‘YRA’ from Nexa outlets

NEW DELHI: After the S-Cross crossover, Maruti SuzukiBSE -0.05 % will launch another premium compact car, codenamed YRA, through the company’s top-end retail outlets Nexa.

Sources said the company plans to quickly beef up offerings at Nexa as it looks to expand the premium retail format to attract new-age buyers. “The idea is to have a fuller portfolio so that walk-ins are on the rise,” a company official told TOI, requesting anonymity. Maruti Suzuki XA Alpha: Ever since its debut as a concept at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo, Maruti Suzuki’s sub-compact SUV – the XA Alpha – has been one of the most-anticipated cars. The car will finally hit the production lines in the year 2015. Maruti Suzuki iK-2/YRA Premium Hatchback: This premium hatchback was recently unveiled as a concept, named the Suzuki iK-2, at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. The vehicle will be launched in a new 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. The Indian model could get a 1.2-litre K-Series unit. The diesel engine is expected to be a 1.3-litre multijet unit. The expected price is Rs. 4.8 lakh-Rs. 8 lakh.

New Honda Jazz: The new-gen Honda Jazz is expected to come with a highly fuel-efficient diesel engine and an all new design. Powering the petrol variant will be a 1.2-litre i-VTEC engine while the diesel model is a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel unit. There may also be a 1.5-litre i-VTEC unit. The expected price is Rs. 4.8 lakh-Rs. 8.5 lakh.


Maruti Suzuki Celerio Diesel: The Celerio was launched in February 2014. The lack of a diesel engine pushed Maruti to come out with one. Powering the vehicle will be an all new 800 cc diesel engine which will offer a fuel efficiency of 35 kmpl. The expected price is Rs. 4 lakh.

Hyundai ix25 Compact SUV: Expected to be launched in the Indian market in 2015, the company has already started testing the vehicle here. The ix25 is based on the company’s evolved ‘Fluidic Sculpture 2.0’ design philosophy. The engine options to be offered with the ix25 are likely to be a 1.4-litre VTVT and a 1.6-litre CRDi diesel. The expected price is Rs. 7.5 lakh-9.50 lakh.

Renault 800 cc Hatchback: Renault is working on a new 800 cc, 3-cylinder petrol engine that will power its upcoming small cars. The small hatchback will be built on the CMF-A platform that has been jointly developed by Renault and Nissan. The expected price is Rs. 3 lakh-Rs. 4 lakh.

Jaguar XJ 3.0-litre Diesel review

The Jaguar XJ is a car that we here at ZigWheels quite like mainly due to its drop dead gorgeous looks, balanced proportions and of course, its brilliant interiors. In fact, when we drove the 2.0-litre petrol version of the XJ recently, we mentioned how we would probably have that over most of the other cars in its category. 2015 BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe Facelift Launched in India at Rs. 1.15 Crore

BMW India, today, launched the updated 6 Series Gran Coupe facelift in the country at the curtain raiser of the BMW India Bridal Fashion Week 2015. Launched in two variants – 640d Eminence and 640d Design Pure Experience – the vehicle comes at a starting price of Rs. 1.15 crore (ex-showroom, New Delhi). Except for minor cosmetic changes, the vehicle remains largely similar to the outgoing model.

Talking about the exterior changes, the 2015 BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe now gets a new kidney grille, revised bumpers, new alloy wheels, and LED multi-beam lamps. The interior, on the other hand, looks almost identical to the outgoing model except for the new dual-tone leather upholstery and the head-up display (HUD).
